The change is achieved by modifying an invisible tiny square that already existed at the extrema of the the glyph for U+FFFD REPLACEMENT CHARACTER that was already the tallest glyph in the fonts. This is a "hot patch" fix, with the stray point deleted using TTX. We want to fix the font upstream as well, but this should fix things in the mean time.
