* SUNRPC: Eliminate xprt_create_proto and rpc_create_clientChuck Lever2006-09-221-3/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The two function call API for creating a new RPC client is now obsolete. Remove it. Also, remove an unnecessary check to see whether the caller is capable of using privileged network services. The kernel RPC client always uses a privileged ephemeral port by default; callers are responsible for checking the authority of users to make use of any RPC service, or for specifying that a nonprivileged port is acceptable. Test plan: Repeated runs of Connectathon locking suite. Check network trace to ensure correctness of NLM requests and replies. * [PATCH] knfsd: Unexport cache_fresh and fix a small raceNeilBrown2006-03-271-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | Cache_fresh is now only used in cache.c, so unexport it. Part of cache_fresh (setting CACHE_VALID) should really be done under the lock, while part (calling cache_revisit_request etc) must be done outside the lock. So we split it up appropriately. * [PATCH] knfsd: Change the store of auth_domains to not be a 'cache'NeilBrown2006-03-271-3/+1
| | | | | | | | | | The 'auth_domain's are simply handles on internal data structures. They do not cache information from user-space, and forcing them into the mold of a 'cache' misrepresents their true nature and causes confusion. * SUNRPC: allow sunrpc.o to link when CONFIG_SYSCTL is disabledChuck Lever2005-11-041-2/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | The sunrpc module should build properly even when CONFIG_SYSCTL is disabled. Reported by Jan-Benedict Glaw. Test plan: Compile kernel with CONFIG_NFS as a module and built-in, and CONFIG_SYSCTL enabled and disabled. * [PATCH] RPC: Eliminate socket.h includes in RPC clientChuck Lever2005-09-231-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Clean-up: get rid of unnecessary socket.h and in.h includes in the generic parts of the RPC client. Test-plan: Compile kernel with CONFIG_NFS enabled. * [PATCH] sunrpc: cache_register can use wrong module referenceBruce Allan2005-09-071-2/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | When registering an RPC cache, cache_register() always sets the owner as the sunrpc module. However, there are RPC caches owned by other modules. With the incorrect owner setting, the real owning module can be removed potentially with an open reference to the cache from userspace. For example, if one were to stop the nfs server and unmount the nfsd filesystem, the nfsd module could be removed eventhough rpc.idmapd had references to the idtoname and nametoid caches (i.e. /proc/net/rpc/nfs4.<cachename>/channel is still open). This resulted in a system panic on one of our machines when attempting to restart the nfs services after reloading the nfsd module. The following patch adds a 'struct module *owner' field in struct cache_detail. The owner is further assigned to the struct proc_dir_entry in cache_register() so that the module cannot be unloaded while user-space daemons have an open reference on the associated file under /proc. * [PATCH] knfsd: nfsd4: fix probe_callbackNeilBrown2005-06-241-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | rpc_create_client was modified recently to do its own (synchronous) NULL ping of the server. We'd rather do that on our own, asynchronously, so that we don't have to block the nfsd thread doing the probe, and so that setclientid handling (hence, client mounts) can proceed normally whether the callback is succesful or not. (We can still function fine without the callback channel--we just won't be able to give out delegations till it's verified to work.) Signed-off-by: J. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
