| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The semantic effect of insert_at_head is that it would allow new registered sysctl entries to override existing sysctl entries of the same name. Which is pain for caching and the proc interface never implemented. I have done an audit and discovered that none of the current users of register_sysctl care as (excpet for directories) they do not register duplicate sysctl entries. So this patch simply removes the support for overriding existing entries in the sys_sysctl interface since no one uses it or cares and it makes future enhancments harder. Signed-off-by: Eric W. * [XFS] Keep stack usage down for 4k stacks by using noinline.David Chinner2007-02-101-3/+3

Prevent this from occurring by adding noinline to the STATIC definition. Also uninline some functions that are too large to be inlined and were causing problems with CONFIG_FORCED_INLINING=y. Finally, clean up all the different users of inline, __inline and __inline__ and put them under one STATIC_INLINE macro. For debug kernels the STATIC_INLINE macro uninlines those functions. We've had mistakes in the past where people were using for_each_cpu() where they should have been iterating across only online or present CPUs. This is inefficient and possibly buggy. We're renaming for_each_cpu() to for_each_possible_cpu() to avoid this in the future. This patch replaces for_each_cpu with for_each_possible_cpu. in xfs. The correct way of doing this is to test cpu_possible() or to use for_each_cpu(). This patch is a kernel-wide sweep of all instances of NR_CPUS. I found very few instances of this bug, if any. But the patch converts lots of open-coded test to use the preferred helper macros. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
