* USB NET KL5KUSB101: Fix mem leak in error path of kaweth_download_firmware()Jesper Juhl2011-01-241-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | We will leak the storage allocated by request_firmware() if the size of the firmware is greater than KAWETH_FIRMWARE_BUF_SIZE. This removes the leak by calling release_firmware() before we return -ENOSPC. Signed-off-by: Jesper Juhl <jj@chaosbits.net> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* ethtool: Provide a default implementation of ethtool_ops::get_drvinfoBen Hutchings2010-08-171-9/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The driver name and bus address for a net_device can normally be found through the driver model now. Instead of requiring drivers to provide this information redundantly through the ethtool_ops::get_drvinfo operation, use the driver model to do so if the driver does not define the operation. Since ETHTOOL_GDRVINFO no longer requires the driver to implement any operations, do not require net_device::ethtool_ops to be set either. Remove implementations of get_drvinfo and ethtool_ops that provide only this information. Signed-off-by: Ben Hutchings <bhutchings@solarflare.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | For more clearance what the functions actually do, usb_buffer_alloc() is renamed to usb_alloc_coherent() usb_buffer_free() is renamed to usb_free_coherent() They should only be used in code which really needs DMA coherency. * convert kaweth to use usb_reset_configuration()Oliver Neukum2009-10-291-10/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | For USB 3.0 it is necessary that all drivers use the standard API to reset a configuration. This removes a home-grown implementation. * kaweth: Fix memory leak in kaweth_control()Kevin Cernekee2009-09-221-7/+11
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | kaweth_control() never frees the buffer that it allocates for the USB control message. Test case: while :; do ifconfig eth2 down ; ifconfig eth2 up ; done This is a tiny buffer so it is a slow leak. If you want to speed up the process, you can change the allocation size to e.g. 16384 bytes, and it will consume several megabytes within a few minutes. * net: Eliminate flush_scheduled_work() calls while RTNL is held.David S. Miller2008-06-121-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | If the RTNL is held when we invoke flush_scheduled_work() we could deadlock. One such case is linkwatch, it is a work struct which tries to grab the RTNL semaphore. The most common case are net driver ->stop() methods. The simplest conversion is to instead use cancel_{delayed_}work_sync() explicitly on the various work struct the driver uses. This is an OK transformation because these work structs are doing things like resetting the chip, restarting link negotiation, and so forth. And if we're bringing down the device, we're about to turn the chip off and reset it anways. So if we cancel a pending work event, that's fine here. Some drivers were working around this deadlock by using a msleep() polling loop of some sort, and those cases are converted to instead use cancel_{delayed_}work_sync() as well. * net: Remove unnecessary inclusions of asm/semaphore.hMatthew Wilcox2008-04-181-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | None of these files use any of the functionality promised by asm/semaphore.h. * [NET]: Nuke SET_MODULE_OWNER macro.Ralf Baechle2007-10-101-2/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | It's been a useless no-op for long enough in 2.6 so I figured it's time to remove it. * Move USB network drivers to drivers/net/usb.Jeff Garzik2007-05-091-0/+1337
It is preferable to group drivers by usage (net, scsi, ATA, ...) than by bus. When reviewing drivers, the [PCI|USB|PCMCIA|...] maintainer is probably less qualified on networking issues than a networking maintainer. Also, from a practical standpoint, chips often appear on multiple buses, which is why we do not put drivers into drivers/pci/net.
