commit 29ecd78c0fd6ee05f2c6b07b23823a6ae43c13ff upstream.
In the disable AIE irq code path, current code passes "1" to enable
parameter of rv3029c2_rtc_i2c_alarm_set_irq(). Thus it does not disable
AIE irq.

commit e005715efaf674660ae59af83b13822567e3a758 upstream.
There's a bug where rtc alarms are ignored after the rtc cmos suspends
but before the system finishes suspend. Since hpet emulation is
disabled and it still handles the interrupts, a wake event is never
registered which is done from the rtc layer.
This patch reverts commit d1b2efa83fbf ("rtc: disable hpet emulation on
suspend") which disabled hpet emulation. To fix the problem mentioned
in that commit, hpet_rtc_timer_init() is called directly on resume.

commit 72fca4a4b32dc778b5b885c3498700e42b610d49 upstream.
Previously the alarm event was not propagated into the RTC subsystem.
By adding a call to rtc_update_irq, this fixes a timeout problem with
the hwclock utility.

commit 2f90b68309683f2c5765a1b04ca23d71e51f1494 upstream.
tm_mon is 0..11, whereas vt8500 expects 1..12 for the month field,
causing invalid date errors for January, and causing the day field to
roll over incorrectly.
The century flag is only handled in vt8500_rtc_read_time, but not set in
vt8500_rtc_set_time. This patch corrects the behaviour of the century
flag.

commit 532db570e5181abc8f4f7bfa6c77c69ec2240198 upstream.
Control register bitfield for 12H/24H mode is handled incorrectly.
Setting CR_24H actually enables 12H mode. This patch renames the define

commit 7dbfb315b2aaef0a115765946bf3026d074c33a7 upstream.
Correct the offset by subtracting 20 from tm_hour before taking the
modulo 12.
[ "Why 20?" I hear you ask. Or at least I did.
Here's the reason why: RS5C348_BIT_PM is 32, and is - stupidly -
included in the RS5C348_HOURS_MASK define. So it's really subtracting
out that bit to get "hour+12". But then because it does things modulo
12, it needs to add the 12 in again afterwards anyway.
This code is confused. It would be much clearer if RS5C348_HOURS_MASK
just didn't include the RS5C348_BIT_PM bit at all, then it wouldn't
need to do the silly subtract either.
Whatever. It's all just math, the end result is the same. - Linus ]

commit 8dcebaa9a0ae8a0487f4342f3d56d2cb1c980860 upstream.
On some platforms, bootloaders are known to do some interesting RTC
programming. Without going into the obscurities as to why this may be
the case, suffice it to say the the driver should not make any
assumptions about the state of the RTC when the driver loads. In
particular, the driver probe should be sure that all interrupts are
disabled until otherwise programmed.
This was discovered when finding bursty I2C traffic every second on
Overo platforms. This I2C overhead was keeping the SoC from hitting
deep power states. The cause was found to be the RTC firing every
second on the I2C-connected TWL PMIC.
Special thanks to Felipe Balbi for suggesting to look for a rogue driver
as the source of the I2C traffic rather than the I2C driver itself.
Special thanks to Steve Sakoman for helping track down the source of the
continuous RTC interrups on the Overo boards.

commit 9dccf55f4cb011a7552a8a2749a580662f5ed8ed upstream.
The tamper evident features of the RTC include the "write counter" which
is a pseudo-random number regenerated whenever we set the RTC. Since this
value is unpredictable it should provide some useful seeding to the random
number generator.
Only do this on boot since the goal is to seed the pool rather than add
useful entropy.

commit c0a5f4a05af588a0f9951f8d24e2564b09501918 upstream.
The reset date of the ST Micro version of PL031 is 2000-01-01. The
correct weekday for 2000-01-01 is saturday, but pl031 is initialized to
sunday. This may lead to alarm malfunction, so configure the correct
wday if RTC_DR indicates reset.

commit 2f3972168353d355854d6381f1f360ce83b723e5 upstream.
The ST variants of the PL031 all require bit 26 in the control register
to be set before they work properly. Discovered this when testing on
the Nomadik board where it would suprisingly just stand still.

commit 41c7f7424259ff11009449f87c95656f69f9b186 upstream.
Currently, the RTC code does not disable the alarm in the hardware.
This means that after a sequence such as the one below (the files are in the
RTC sysfs), the box will boot up after 2 minutes even though we've
asked for the alarm to be turned off.
# echo $((`cat since_epoch`)+120) > wakealarm
# echo 0 > wakealarm
# poweroff
Fix this by disabling the alarm when there are no timers to run.
The original version of this patch was reverted. This version
disables the irq directly instead of setting a disabled timer
in the future.

commit e74a8f2edb92cb690b467cea0ab652c509e9f624 upstream.
Commit f44f7f96a20a ("RTC: Initialize kernel state from RTC") introduced a
potential infinite loop. If an alarm time contains a wildcard month and
an invalid day (> 31), or a wildcard year and an invalid month (>= 12),
the loop searching for the next matching date will never terminate. Treat
the invalid values as wildcards.

commit 157e8bf8b4823bfcdefa6c1548002374b61f61df upstream.
This reverts commit c0afabd3d553c521e003779c127143ffde55a16f.
It causes failures on Toshiba laptops - instead of disabling the alarm,
it actually seems to enable it on the affected laptops, resulting in
(for example) the laptop powering on automatically five minutes after
shutdown.
There's a patch for it that appears to work for at least some people,
but it's too late to play around with this, so revert for now and try
again in the next merge window.

commit c3b79770e51ab1fd4201f3b54edf30113b9ce74f upstream.
The m41t80 driver can read and set the alarm, but it doesn't
seem to have a functional alarm irq.
This causes failures when the generic core sees alarm functions,
but then cannot use them properly for things like UIE mode.
Disabling the alarm functions allows proper error reporting,
and possible fallback to emulated modes. Once someone fixes
the alarm irq functionality, this can be restored.

Due to the hrtimer self rearming mode a user can DoS the machine simply

commit b830ac1d9a2262093bb0f3f6a2fd2a1c8278daf5 upstream.
Ben reported a lockup related to rtc. The lockup happens due to:
CPU0 CPU1
rtc_irq_set_state() __run_hrtimer()
spin_lock_irqsave(&rtc->irq_task_lock) rtc_handle_legacy_irq();
spin_lock(&rtc->irq_task_lock);
hrtimer_cancel()
while (callback_running);
So the running callback never finishes as it's blocked on
rtc->irq_task_lock.
Use hrtimer_try_to_cancel() instead and drop rtc->irq_task_lock while
waiting for the callback. Fix this for both rtc_irq_set_state() and
rtc_irq_set_freq().

The code checks the correctness of the parameters, but unconditionally
arms/disarms the hrtimer.
The result is that a random task might arm/disarm rtc timer and surprise
the real owner by either generating events or by stopping them.

PT7C4338 chip is being manufactured by Pericom Technology Inc. It is a
serial real-time clock which provides:
1) Low-power clock/calendar.
2) Programmable square-wave output.
It has 56 bytes of nonvolatile RAM. Its register set is same as that of
rtc device: DS1307.

Now that the generic code handles UIE mode irqs via periodic
alarm interrupts, no one calls the
rtc_class_ops->update_irq_enable() method anymore.
Further the rtc_class_ops doesn't have a update_irq_enable element
anymore, so this causes a build error.
This patch removes the driver hooks and implementations of
update_irq_enable and the associated setup.

Bryan Henderson noticed that the "RTC: Fix rtc driver ioctl specific
shortcutting" commit has a small bug: When an ioctl is called with an
invalid command code and the clock driver does not have an "ioctl"
method, the ioctl returns rc 0 instead of -ENOTTY.
This patch fixes the issue.

The RTC subsystem has a number of accessors that are available via
include/linux/rtc.h. However many of these interfaces are not
available for use if CONFIG_RTC_CLASS=m.
So in order to support wider use of the RTC in the kernel, I'm
removing the tristate config option for a bool, so that code can
easily be conditionalized if the RTC class is present or not.

Some platforms cannot implement read_persistent_clock, as
their RTC devices are only accessible when interrupts are enabled.
This keeps them from being used by the timekeeping code on resume
to measure the time in suspend.
The RTC layer tries to work around this, by calling do_settimeofday
on resume after irqs are reenabled to set the time properly. However,
this only corrects CLOCK_REALTIME, and does not properly adjust
the sleep time value. This causes btime in /proc/stat to be incorrect
as well as making the new CLOCK_BOTTTIME inaccurate.
This patch resolves the issue by introducing a new timekeeping hook
to allow the RTC layer to inject the sleep time on resume.
The code also checks to make sure that read_persistent_clock is
nonfunctional before setting the sleep time, so that should the RTC's
HCTOSYS option be configured in on a system that does support
read_persistent_clock we will not increase the total_sleep_time twice.

Since commit f44f7f9 (RTC: Initialize kernel state from RTC)
rtc_device_register reads the programmed alarm. As reading the alarm

Commit f44f7f96a20 ("RTC: Initialize kernel state from RTC") uncovered
an issue in a number of RTC drivers, where the drivers call
rtc_device_register before initializing the device or platform drvdata.
This frequently results in null pointer dereferences when the
rtc_device_register immediately makes use of the rtc device, calling
rtc_read_alarm.
The solution is to ensure the drvdata is initialized prior to registering
the rtc device.
