| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | A patch for the CTC / ESCON network driver. * | | [S390] zfcpdump support.Michael Holzheu2007-04-274-0/+911
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | s390 machines provide hardware support for creating Linux dumps on SCSI disks. For creating a dump a special purpose dump Linux is used. The first 32 MB of memory are saved by the hardware before the dump Linux is booted. Via an SCLP interface, the saved memory can be accessed from Linux. This patch exports memory and registers of the crashed Linux to userspace via a debugfs file. For more information refer to Documentation/s390/zfcpdump.txt, which is included in this patch. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch adds a sysfs-attribute 'status' to make the DASD device-status accessible from user-space. In addition, the DASD driver generates an uevent(CHANGE) for the ccw-device on each device-status change. This enables user-space applications (e.g. udev) to do related processing. * | [PATCH] sysfs and driver core: add callback helper, used by SCSI and S390Alan Stern2007-03-151-3/+15
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch (as868) adds a helper routine for device drivers that need to set up a callback to perform some action in a different process's context. This is intended for use by attribute methods that want to unregister themselves or their parent device. Attribute method calls are mutually exclusive with unregistration, so such actions cannot be taken directly. Two attribute methods are converted to use the new helper routine: one for SCSI device deletion and one for System/390 ccwgroup devices. * [S390] dasd: Use default recovery for SNSS requestsStefan Weinhuber2007-03-051-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | For extended error reporting we sometimes have to start an Sense Subsystem Status request (SNSS). When this request needs to be recovered for some reason, the recovery request will fail with 'command reject'. Our usual recovery procedure will retry the failed request by creating a new request and chaining the failed request from that one. SNSS requests, though, must not be chained from anything, so the recovery request will fail permanently. Use the default recovery for SNSS request, which will just restart the original request without further ado. * [PATCH] remove many unneeded #includes of sched.hTim Schmielau2007-02-144-4/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | After Al Viro (finally) succeeded in removing the sched.h #include in module.h recently, it makes sense again to remove other superfluous sched.h includes. There are quite a lot of files which include it but don't actually need anything defined in there. Presumably these includes were once needed for macros that used to live in sched.h, but moved to other header files in the course of cleaning it up. To ease the pain, this time I did not fiddle with any header files and only removed #includes from .c-files, which tend to cause less trouble. Compile tested against 2.6.20-rc2 and 2.6.20-rc2-mm2 (with offsets) on alpha, arm, i386, ia64, mips, powerpc, and x86_64 with allnoconfig, defconfig, allmodconfig, and allyesconfig as well as a few randconfigs on x86_64 and all configs in arch/arm/configs on arm. I also checked that no new warnings were introduced by the patch (actually, some warnings are removed that were emitted by unnecessarily included header files). | * [S390] cio: Fixup interface for setting options on ccw devices.Cornelia Huck2007-02-122-3/+31
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The current ccw_device_set_options() sets a specified mask of options and clears those not specified, but there is no way to find out which options have already been set. In order to fix this up, introduce the following interface changes: ccw_device_set_options() now only sets the specified bits, but does not clear those that are not specified. ccw_device_clear_options() clears the specified bits. ccw_device_set_options_mask() provides the old semantics (setting only the specified bits and clearing the others). Device drivers now work as expected. qdio has been adapted. Signed-off-by: Cornelia Huck <cornelia.huck@de.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Martin Schwidefsky <schwidefsky@de.ibm.com>
* | [PATCH] mark struct file_operations const 9Arjan van de Ven2007-02-122-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Many struct file_operations in the kernel can be "const". Marking them const moves these to the .rodata section, which avoids false sharing with potential dirty data. In addition it'll catch accidental writes at compile time to these shared resources.
