commit fbd40ea0180a2d328c5adc61414dc8bab9335ce2 upstream.
When an inetdev is destroyed, every address assigned to the interface
is removed. And in this scenerio we do two pointless things which can
be very expensive if the number of assigned interfaces is large:
1) Address promotion. We are deleting all addresses, so there is no
point in doing this.
2) A full nf conntrack table purge for every address. We only need to
do this once, as is already caught by the existing
masq_dev_notifier so masq_inet_event() can skip this.

Ben Hawkes says:
In the mark_source_chains function (net/ipv4/netfilter/ip_tables.c) it
is possible for a user-supplied ipt_entry structure to have a large
next_offset field. This field is not bounds checked prior to writing a
counter value at the supplied offset.
Problem is that mark_source_chains should not have been called --
the rule doesn't have a next entry, so its supposed to return
an absolute verdict of either ACCEPT or DROP.
However, the function conditional() doesn't work as the name implies.
It only checks that the rule is using wildcard address matching.
However, an unconditional rule must also not be using any matches
(no -m args).
The underflow validator only checked the addresses, therefore
passing the 'unconditional absolute verdict' test, while
mark_source_chains also tested for presence of matches, and thus
proceeeded to the next (not-existent) rule.
Unify this so that all the callers have same idea of 'unconditional rule'.

This reverts commit 81d54ec8479a2c695760da81f05b5a9fb2dbe40a.
If we take the "try_again" goto, due to a checksum error,
the 'len' has already been truncated. So we won't compute
the same values as the original code did.

Without this length argument, we can read past the end of the iovec in
memcpy_toiovec because we have no way of knowing the total length of the
iovec's buffers.
This is needed for stable kernels where 89c22d8c3b27 ("net: Fix skb
csum races when peeking") has been backported but that don't have the
ioviter conversion, which is almost all the stable trees <= 3.18.
This also fixes a kernel crash for NFS servers when the client uses
-onfsvers=3,proto=udp to mount the export.

Plug a group_info refcount leak in ping_init.
group_info is only needed during initialization and
the code failed to release the reference on exit.
While here move grabbing the reference to a place
where it is actually needed.

Tracking idle time in bictcp_cwnd_event() is imprecise, as epoch_start
is normally set at ACK processing time, not at send time.
Doing a proper fix would need to add an additional state variable,
and does not seem worth the trouble, given CUBIC bug has been there
forever before Jana noticed it.
Let's simply not set epoch_start in the future, otherwise
bictcp_update() could overflow and CUBIC would again
grow cwnd too fast.
This was detected thanks to a packetdrill test Neal wrote that was flaky
before applying this fix.

Jana Iyengar found an interesting issue on CUBIC :
The epoch is only updated/reset initially and when experiencing losses.
The delta "t" of now - epoch_start can be arbitrary large after app idle
as well as the bic_target. Consequentially the slope (inverse of
ca->cnt) would be really large, and eventually ca->cnt would be
lower-bounded in the end to 2 to have delayed-ACK slow-start behavior.
This particularly shows up when slow_start_after_idle is disabled
as a dangerous cwnd inflation (1.5 x RTT) after few seconds of idle
time.
Jana initial fix was to reset epoch_start if app limited,
but Neal pointed out it would ask the CUBIC algorithm to recalculate the
curve so that we again start growing steeply upward from where cwnd is
now (as CUBIC does just after a loss). Ideally we'd want the cwnd growth
curve to be the same shape, just shifted later in time by the amount of
the idle period.

Not caching dst_entries which cause redirects could be exploited by hosts
on the same subnet, causing a severe DoS attack. This effect aggravated
since commit f88649721268999 ("ipv4: fix dst race in sk_dst_get()").
Lookups causing redirects will be allocated with DST_NOCACHE set which
will force dst_release to free them via RCU. Unfortunately waiting for
RCU grace period just takes too long, we can end up with >1M dst_entries
waiting to be released and the system will run OOM. rcuos threads cannot
catch up under high softirq load.
Attaching the flag to emit a redirect later on to the specific skb allows
us to cache those dst_entries thus reducing the pressure on allocation
and deallocation.

We have two problems in UDP stack related to bogus checksums :
1 ) We return -EGAIN to application even if receive queue is not empty.
This breaks applications using edge trigger epoll()
2 ) Under UDP flood, we can loop forever without yielding to other
processes, potentially hanging the host, especially on non SMP.
This patch is an attempt to make things better.
We might in the future add extra support for rt applications
wanting to better control time spent doing a recv() in a hostile
environment. For example we could validate checksums before queuing
packets in socket receive queue.

郭永刚 reported that one could simply crash the kernel as root by
using a simple program:
int socket_fd;
struct sockaddr_in addr;
addr.sin_port = 0;
addr.sin_addr.s_addr = INADDR_ANY;
addr.sin_family = 10;
socket_fd = socket(10,3,0x40000000);
connect(socket_fd , &addr,16);
AF_INET, AF_INET6 sockets actually only support 8-bit protocol
identifiers. inet_sock's skc_protocol field thus is sized accordingly,
thus larger protocol identifiers simply cut off the higher bits and
store a zero in the protocol fields.
This could lead to e.g. NULL function pointer because as a result of
the cut off inet_num is zero and we call down to inet_autobind, which
is NULL for raw sockets.

It is possible for the timer handlers to run after the call to
ip_mc_down so use in_dev_put instead of __in_dev_put in the handler
function in order to do proper cleanup when the refcnt reaches 0.
Otherwise, the refcnt can reach zero without the in_device being
destroyed and we end up leaking a reference to the net_device and
see messages like the following,
unregister_netdevice: waiting for eth0 to become free. Usage count = 1

If local fragmentation is allowed, then ip_select_ident() and
ip_select_ident_more() need to generate unique IDs to ensure
correct defragmentation on the peer.
For example, if IPsec (tunnel mode) has to encrypt large skbs
that have local_df bit set, then all IP fragments that belonged
to different ESP datagrams would have used the same identificator.
If one of these IP fragments would get lost or reordered, then
peer could possibly stitch together wrong IP fragments that did
not belong to the same datagram. This would lead to a packet loss
or data corruption.

[ Upstream commit cd6b423afd3c08b27e1fed52db828ade0addbc6b ]
While investigating about strange increase of retransmit rates
on hosts ~24 days after boot, Van found hystart was disabled
if ca->epoch_start was 0, as following condition is true
when tcp_time_stamp high order bit is set.
(s32)(tcp_time_stamp - ca->epoch_start) < HZ
Quoting Van :
At initialization & after every loss ca->epoch_start is set to zero so
I believe that the above line will turn off hystart as soon as the 2^31
bit is set in tcp_time_stamp & hystart will stay off for 24 days.
I think we've observed that cubic's restart is too aggressive without
hystart so this might account for the higher drop rate we observe.

[ Upstream commit 2ed0edf9090bf4afa2c6fc4f38575a85a80d4b20 ]
commit 17a6e9f1aa9 ("tcp_cubic: fix clock dependency") added an
overflow error in bictcp_update() in following code :
/* change the unit from HZ to bictcp_HZ */
t = ((tcp_time_stamp + msecs_to_jiffies(ca->delay_min>>3) -
ca->epoch_start) << BICTCP_HZ) / HZ;
Because msecs_to_jiffies() being unsigned long, compiler does
implicit type promotion.
We really want to constrain (tcp_time_stamp - ca->epoch_start)
to a signed 32bit value, or else 't' has unexpected high values.
This bugs triggers an increase of retransmit rates ~24 days after
boot [1], as the high order bit of tcp_time_stamp flips.

This patch adds a check if the pending data is of address family AF_INET
and directly calls udp_push_ending_frames from udp_v6_push_pending_frames
if that is the case.
This bug was found by Dave Jones with trinity.
(Also move the initialization of fl6 below the AF_INET check, even if
not strictly necessary.)

[ Upstream commit a622260254ee481747cceaaa8609985b29a31565 ]
Daniel Petre reported crashes in icmp_dst_unreach() with following call
graph:
Daniel found a similar problem mentioned in
http://lkml.indiana.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/1007.0/00961.html
And indeed this is the root cause : skb->cb[] contains data fooling IP
stack.
We must clear IPCB in ip_tunnel_xmit() sooner in case dst_link_failure()
is called. Or else skb->cb[] might contain garbage from GSO segmentation
layer.
A similar fix was tested on linux-3.9, but gre code was refactored in
linux-3.10. I'll send patches for stable kernels as well.
Many thanks to Daniel for providing reports, patches and testing !

Commit 4a94445c9a5c (net: Use ip_route_input_noref() in input path)
added a bug in IP defragmentation handling, as non refcounted
dst could escape an RCU protected section.
Commit 64f3b9e203bd068 (net: ip_expire() must revalidate route) fixed
the case of timeouts, but not the general problem.
Tom Parkin noticed crashes in UDP stack and provided a patch,
but further analysis permitted us to pinpoint the root cause.
Before queueing a packet into a frag list, we must drop its dst,
as this dst has limited lifetime (RCU protected)
When/if a packet is finally reassembled, we use the dst of the very
last skb, still protected by RCU and valid, as the dst of the
reassembled packet.
Use same logic in IPv6, as there is no need to hold dst references.

[ Upstream commit 12fb3dd9dc3c64ba7d64cec977cca9b5fb7b1d4e ]
commit bd090dfc634d (tcp: tcp_replace_ts_recent() should not be called
from tcp_validate_incoming()) introduced a TS ecr bug in slow path
processing.
1 A > B P. 1:10001(10000) ack 1 <nop,nop,TS val 1001 ecr 200>
2 B < A . 1:1(0) ack 1 win 257 <sack 9001:10001,TS val 300 ecr 1001>
3 A > B . 1:1001(1000) ack 1 win 227 <nop,nop,TS val 1002 ecr 200>
4 A > B . 1001:2001(1000) ack 1 win 227 <nop,nop,TS val 1002 ecr 200>
(ecr 200 should be ecr 300 in packets 3 & 4)
Problem is tcp_ack() can trigger send of new packets (retransmits),
reflecting the prior TSval, instead of the TSval contained in the
currently processed incoming packet.
Fix this by calling tcp_replace_ts_recent() from tcp_ack() after the
checks, but before the actions.

There is a bug in cookie_v4_check (net/ipv4/syncookies.c):
flowi4_init_output(&fl4, 0, sk->sk_mark, RT_CONN_FLAGS(sk),
RT_SCOPE_UNIVERSE, IPPROTO_TCP,
inet_sk_flowi_flags(sk),
(opt && opt->srr) ? opt->faddr : ireq->rmt_addr,
ireq->loc_addr, th->source, th->dest);
Here we do not respect sk->sk_bound_dev_if, therefore wrong dst_entry may be
taken. This dst_entry is used by new socket (get_cookie_sock ->
tcp_v4_syn_recv_sock), so its packets may take the wrong path.

[ Upstream commit 5a3da1fe9561828d0ca7eca664b16ec2b9bf0055 ]
This patch introduces a constant limit of the fragment queue hash
table bucket list lengths. Currently the limit 128 is choosen somewhat
arbitrary and just ensures that we can fill up the fragment cache with
empty packets up to the default ip_frag_high_thresh limits. It should
just protect from list iteration eating considerable amounts of cpu.
If we reach the maximum length in one hash bucket a warning is printed.
This is implemented on the caller side of inet_frag_find to distinguish
between the different users of inet_fragment.c.
I dropped the out of memory warning in the ipv4 fragment lookup path,
because we already get a warning by the slab allocator.

It looks like its possible to open thousands of TCP IPv6
sessions on a server, all landing in a single slot of TCP hash
table. Incoming packets have to lookup sockets in a very
long list.
We should hash all bits from foreign IPv6 addresses, using
a salt and hash mix, not a simple XOR.
inet6_ehashfn() can also separately use the ports, instead
of xoring them.

ipv6: introdcue __ipv6_addr_needs_scope_id and ipv6_iface_scope_id helper functions
[net-next commit b7ef213ef65256168df83ddfbb8131ed9adc10f9]
__ipv6_addr_needs_scope_id checks if an ipv6 address needs to supply
a 'sin6_scope_id != 0'. 'sin6_scope_id != 0' was enforced in case
of link-local addresses. To support interface-local multicast these
checks had to be enhanced and are now consolidated into these new helper
functions.
v2:
a) migrated to struct ipv6_addr_props
v3:
a) reverted changes for ipv6_addr_props
b) test for address type instead of comparing scope
v4:

net: ipv6: Add IPv6 support to the ping socket.
[backport of net-next 6d0bfe22611602f36617bc7aa2ffa1bbb2f54c67]
This adds the ability to send ICMPv6 echo requests without a
raw socket. The equivalent ability for ICMPv4 was added in
2011.
Instead of having separate code paths for IPv4 and IPv6, make
most of the code in net/ipv4/ping.c dual-stack and only add a
few IPv6-specific bits (like the protocol definition) to a new
net/ipv6/ping.c. Hopefully this will reduce divergence and/or
duplication of bugs in the future.
Caveats:
- Setting options via ancillary data (e.g., using IPV6_PKTINFO
to specify the outgoing interface) is not yet supported.
- There are no separate security settings for IPv4 and IPv6;
everything is controlled by /proc/net/ipv4/ping_group_range.
- The proc interface does not yet display IPv6 ping sockets
properly.
Tested with a patched copy of ping6 and using raw socket calls.
Compiles and works with all of CONFIG_IPV6={n,m,y}.

ipv4: tcp: fix TOS value in ACK messages sent from TIME_WAIT
There is a long standing bug in linux tcp stack, about ACK messages sent
on behalf of TIME_WAIT sockets.
In the IP header of the ACK message, we choose to reflect TOS field of
incoming message, and this might break some setups.
Example of things that were broken :
- Routing using TOS as a selector
- Firewalls
- Trafic classification / shaping
We now remember in timewait structure the inet tos field and use it in
ACK generation, and route lookup.
Notes :
- We still reflect incoming TOS in RST messages.
- We could extend MuraliRaja Muniraju patch to report TOS value in
netlink messages for TIME_WAIT sockets.
- A patch is needed for IPv6

[ Upstream commit 6731d2095bd4aef18027c72ef845ab1087c3ba63 ]
There are transients during normal FRTO procedure during which
the packets_in_flight can go to zero between write_queue state
updates and firing the resulting segments out. As FRTO processing
occurs during that window the check must be more precise to
not match "spuriously" :-). More specificly, e.g., when
packets_in_flight is zero but FLAG_DATA_ACKED is true the problematic
branch that set cwnd into zero would not be taken and new segments
might be sent out later.

Commit 9dc274151a548 (tcp: fix ABC in tcp_slow_start())
uncovered a bug in FRTO code :
tcp_process_frto() is setting snd_cwnd to 0 if the number
of in flight packets is 0.
As Neal pointed out, if no packet is in flight we lost our
chance to disambiguate whether a loss timeout was spurious.
We should assume it was a proper loss.

commit c7ac8679bec9397afe8918f788cbcef88c38da54 upstream.
The message size allocated for rtnl ifinfo dumps was limited to
a single page. This is not enough for additional interface info
available with devices that support SR-IOV and caused a bug in
which VF info would not be displayed if more than approximately
40 VFs were created per interface.
Implement a new function pointer for the rtnl_register service that will
calculate the amount of data required for the ifinfo dump and allocate
enough data to satisfy the request.

RFC 5961 5.2 [Blind Data Injection Attack].[Mitigation]
All TCP stacks MAY implement the following mitigation. TCP stacks
that implement this mitigation MUST add an additional input check to
any incoming segment. The ACK value is considered acceptable only if
it is in the range of ((SND.UNA - MAX.SND.WND) <= SEG.ACK <=
SND.NXT). All incoming segments whose ACK value doesn't satisfy the
above condition MUST be discarded and an ACK sent back.
Move tcp_send_challenge_ack() before tcp_ack() to avoid a forward
declaration.

[ Upstream commit bd090dfc634ddd711a5fbd0cadc6e0ab4977bcaf ]
We added support for RFC 5961 in latest kernels but TCP fails
to perform exhaustive check of ACK sequence.
We can update our view of peer tsval from a frame that is
later discarded by tcp_ack()
This makes timestamps enabled sessions vulnerable to injection of
a high tsval : peers start an ACK storm, since the victim
sends a dupack each time it receives an ACK from the other peer.
As tcp_validate_incoming() is called before tcp_ack(), we should
not peform tcp_replace_ts_recent() from it, and let callers do it
at the right time.

Reset attack using RST bit.
Idea is to validate incoming RST sequence,
to match RCV.NXT value, instead of previouly accepted
window : (RCV.NXT <= SEG.SEQ < RCV.NXT+RCV.WND)
If sequence is in window but not an exact match, send
a "challenge ACK", so that the other part can resend an
RST with the appropriate sequence.
Add a new sysctl, tcp_challenge_ack_limit, to limit
number of challenge ACK sent per second.
Add a new SNMP counter to count number of challenge acks sent.
(netstat -s | grep TCPChallengeACK)

Stable-3.0 commit 42ab5316 (ipv4: fix redirect handling) was
backport of mainline commit 9cc20b26 from 3.2-rc3 where hh
member of struct dst_entry was already gone.
However, in 3.0 we still have it and we have to clean it as
well, otherwise it keeps pointing to the cleaned up (and
unusable) hh_cache entry and packets cannot be sent out.

commit 38fe36a248ec3228f8e6507955d7ceb0432d2000 upstream.
ICMP tuples have id in src and type/code in dst.
So comparing src.u.all with dst.u.all will always fail here
and ip_xfrm_me_harder() is called for every ICMP packet,
even if there was no NAT.

(1<<optname) is undefined behavior in C with a negative optname or
optname larger than 31. In those cases the result of the shift is
not necessarily zero (e.g., on x86).
This patch simplifies the code with a switch statement on optname.
It also allows the compiler to generate better code (e.g., using a
64-bit mask).

[ Upstream commit 8f363b77ee4fbf7c3bbcf5ec2c5ca482d396d664 ]
Reading TCP stats when using TCP Illinois congestion control algorithm
can cause a divide by zero kernel oops.
The division by zero occur in tcp_illinois_info() at:
do_div(t, ca->cnt_rtt);
where ca->cnt_rtt can become zero (when rtt_reset is called)
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Register tcp_illinois:
# sysctl -w net.ipv4.tcp_congestion_control=illinois
2. Monitor internal TCP information via command "ss -i"
# watch -d ss -i
3. Establish new TCP conn to machine
Either it fails at the initial conn, or else it needs to wait
for a loss or a reset.
This is only related to reading stats. The function avg_delay() also
performs the same divide, but is guarded with a (ca->cnt_rtt > 0) at its
calling point in update_params(). Thus, simply fix tcp_illinois_info().
Function tcp_illinois_info() / get_info() is called without
socket lock. Thus, eliminate any race condition on ca->cnt_rtt
by using a local stack variable. Simply reuse info.tcpv_rttcnt,
as its already set to ca->cnt_rtt.
Function avg_delay() is not affected by this race condition, as
its called with the socket lock.

tcp_ioctl() tries to take into account if tcp socket received a FIN
to report correct number bytes in receive queue.
But its flaky because if the application ate the last skb,
we return 1 instead of 0.
Correct way to detect that FIN was received is to test SOCK_DONE.
