* net: fix NULL dereferences in check_peer_redir()Eric Dumazet2012-02-131-7/+18
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | [ Upstream commit d3aaeb38c40e5a6c08dd31a1b64da65c4352be36, along with dependent backports of commits: 69cce1d1404968f78b177a0314f5822d5afdbbfb 9de79c127cccecb11ae6a21ab1499e87aa222880 218fa90f072e4aeff9003d57e390857f4f35513e 580da35a31f91a594f3090b7a2c39b85cb051a12 f7e57044eeb1841847c24aa06766c8290c202583 e049f28883126c689cf95859480d9ee4ab23b7fa ] Gergely Kalman reported crashes in check_peer_redir(). It appears commit f39925dbde778 (ipv4: Cache learned redirect information in inetpeer.) added a race, leading to possible NULL ptr dereference. Since we can now change dst neighbour, we should make sure a reader can safely use a neighbour. Add RCU protection to dst neighbour, and make sure check_peer_redir() can be called safely by different cpus in parallel. As neighbours are already freed after one RCU grace period, this patch should not add typical RCU penalty (cache cold effects) Many thanks to Gergely for providing a pretty report pointing to the bug. * [S390] qdio: Split SBAL entry flagsJan Glauber2011-06-062-28/+31
| | | | | | | | | | | | | The qdio SBAL entry flag is made-up of four different values that are independent of one another. Some of the bits are reserved by the hardware and should not be changed by qdio. Currently all four values are overwritten since the SBAL entry flag is defined as an u32. Split the SBAL entry flag into four u8's as defined by the hardware and don't touch the reserved bits. | | | | | | | | | | This patch uses the ndo_set_features callback during normal device startup or recovery to turn on hardware RX checksum. Patch was done with much help from Michal Miroslaw, thx!!! | * qeth: postpone open till recovery is finishedUrsula Braun2011-01-152-4/+32
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The open function of qeth is not executed if the qeth device is in state DOWN or HARDSETUP. A recovery switches from state SOFTSETUP to HARDSETUP to DOWN to HARDSETUP and back to SOFTSETUP. If open and recover are running concurrently, open fails if it hits the states HARDSETUP or DOWN. This patch inserts waiting for recovery finish in the qeth open functions to enable successful qeth device opening in spite of a running recovery. By setting the threshold the driver can tell qdio after how much used SBALs qdio should schedule the outbound tasklet that scans the queue for finished SBALs. The threshold is specific by the drivers because a Hipersockets device is much faster in utilizing outbound buffers than a ZFCP or OSA device. The default values after how many used SBALs the tasklet should run are: OSA: > 31 SBALs Hipersockets: > 7 SBALs zfcp: > 55 SBALs Signed-off-by: Jan Glauber <jang@linux.vnet.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Martin Schwidefsky <schwidefsky@de.ibm.com>

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Device initialization of a qeth device contains a STARTLAN step. This step may fail, if cable is not yet plugged in. The qeth device stays in state HARDSETUP until cable is plugged in. This prevents further preparational initialization steps of the qeth device and its network interface. This patch makes sure initialization of qeth device continues, even though cable is not yet plugged in. Once carrier is available, qeth is notified, triggers a recovery which results in a working network interface. * | qeth: fix race condition during device startupFrank Blaschka2010-11-081-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | QDIO is running independent from netdevice state. We are not allowed to schedule NAPI in case the netdevice is not open. Signed-off-by: Frank Blaschka <frank.blaschka@de.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* | qeth: remove dev_queue_xmit invocationUrsula Braun2010-11-082-54/+8
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | For a certain Hipersockets specific error code in the xmit path, the qeth driver tries to invoke dev_queue_xmit again. Commit 79640a4ca6955e3ebdb7038508fa7a0cd7fa5527 introduces a busylock causing locking problems in case of re-invoked dev_queue_xmit by qeth. This patch removes the attempts to retry packet sending with dev_queue_xmit from the qeth driver. * vlan: Rename VLAN_GROUP_ARRAY_LEN to VLAN_N_VID.Jesse Gross2010-10-211-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | VLAN_GROUP_ARRAY_LEN is simply the number of possible vlan VIDs. Since vlan groups will soon be more of an implementation detail for vlan devices, rename the constant to be descriptive of its actual purpose. * qeth: tagging with VLAN-ID 0Ursula Braun2010-10-032-14/+15
| | | | | | | | | | | This patch adapts qeth to handle tagged frames with VLAN-ID 0 and with or without priority information in the tag. It enables qeth to receive priority-tagged frames on a base interface, for example from z/OS, without configuring an additional VLAN interface. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Freeing netdev without free_netdev() leads to net, tx leaks. I might lead to dereferencing freed pointer.
